Okay, so that's not completely true. It means that I have spent at least 300 hours (it was actually 385+/- but who's counting??) Add that to my 200+ hours and you have 500. RYT means Registered Yoga Teacher. Soon I will have an E in front of that RYT. The E means experienced. I have already completed the requirements about 10 times over but I have not felt like the filling out of the rubric was in the best interest of my very limited time. I promise, I will make that happen....for those of you (like my husband) who might think it is good business. Therapist is a touchy word that means my 300+ hours was focused on using yoga to heal and balance the body, mind and spirit (which all yoga does by the way) instead of mastering major back bends or head stands without a tripod or pretzel poses. Although, there were some of those. Yoga therapy means that we spent our time learning about specific injuries and illnesses and how to help those who suffer from them by using yoga.
Right now I am catching up on all of the things that I negelted while I was finishing my yoga therapy certificate. Like laundry...and bills....and family....and all the things that just happen while life is happening.
I will admit that I am feeling a bit behind on all areas of my life. That's okay with me. Without these moments of feeling overwhelmed I wouldn't notice how nice it is to linger over a good book or a cup of coffee or catch up with my brand new 6th grade child. Nor would it feel so damn good to finally balance the check book and file all my receipts and FOLD CLOTHES! My to-do list is still about 5 miles long but I have realized there will always be something on my list to do. And breath by breath I will keep putting one foot in front of the other and I will make progress.
Enjoy the busy in your day. Enjoy the controlled chaos that abounds. Enjoy everything that life throws at you for before we know it...in a blink of an eye it will all be a memory. But remember to breathe. Always breathe.
TRY THIS: Take note about how you are feeling. Are you sitting up straight? Do you have tension in your body? Take a normal breath in through your nose and exhale out through your mouth like you are blowing out through a straw. Do that a few times and then check back in with your body. Has your tension lessened? Mine did :)
